The curriculum development committee is comprised of volunteer members of the Outdoor Council of Canada. Currently they are assisting the Executive Director in creating curriculum for the Leadership Level One Instructors course. They meet regularly in person and by conference call. Combined they bring decades of experience from diverse backgrounds to the table.

Executive Director, Albi Sole
Albi Sole has been guiding since 1979 and has spent the last fourteen of those years working at the Outdoor Centre at the University of Calgary programming avalanche awareness, ski touring and climbing courses for the public. Albi has an extensive resume including: writing the World's first waterfall ice climbing guide, first climbing ascents in Europe, North and South America, and the Himalaya. Albi worked as a heli-ski guide for 13 years, has guided groups to Aconcagua, Huascaran, and Denali, led two expeditions to Himalaya, and was a participant in lightweight sieges of the West Ridge of Makalu and the first ascent of the West Ridge of Everest from Tibet. In 2008 Albi completed an MSc. researching risk taking in avalanche terrain. Albi lives in Calgary and is married with three children aged 14-20.

Chair, Ian Sherrington
Ian Sherrington is a full time faculty member at Mt Royal College in Alberta. He teaches various academic and leadership courses in the Ecotourism and Outdoor leadership program. He is heavily involved in activity courses in backcountry skiing, avalanche awareness, mountain biking, and wilderness survival program areas. Ian completed his Master’s of Arts in Leadership & Training (MA-LT) at the Royal Roads University in 2002. Ian has been involved in a number of expeditions to the Himalayas, Alaska , South America and the Canadian Arctic but when at home he enjoys helping his two young daughters develop their own passion for the outdoors.
