Instructor Courses


Graduates of this program are certified to teach the components of the LL1 under licence to their own communities. Please note that while all graduates will be certified to teach and certify for the core 'Leadership Level 1' program, license to teach some specialty modules may require additional skill specific certification.

The Typical Candidate

Typical candidates to become instructors will be individuals who are confident in their ability to teach and/or facilitate learning in others and that have already been performing many, or all, of the duties we typically associate with the position of being an 'outdoor programmer'. The duties might include:      

-          selection and training of field staff

-          developing the specific activities offered by those programs

-          direct responsibility for monitoring and managing the safety of programs delivered by others (i.e. field staff)

-          direct responsibility for monitoring and managing program quality

-          organizing logistical support for field instructors

-          record keeping



The Application Process

Your first step will be to fill in the application form at the bottom of the page and have a referee complete the referee's forms. Once you application has been found to be acceptable, you will be invited to register in a course.
