Summer Camp

Connecting Children and Families to the Outdoors

The OCC Summer Camp is a 3-week outdoor education program for kids aged 5-13 and their families. The program focuses on connecting children and families in NE. Calgary to the outdoors through a focused experiential, skills and safety program.

Participants will learn essential outdoor skills and work as groups to create memorable experiences and learning opportunities. Skills learned include, but are not limited to: 

  • Shelter building
  • Basic knots
  • How to prepare for outdoor adventure
  • Basics of orienteering 
  • The importance of nutrition and hydration

There is no experience necessary although it is welcomed. 

The program will finish with an overnight camping trip to Camp Riveredge in Calgary. Participants will enjoy a night of fire building, outdoor cooking and sleeping in tipis. 


Children between the age of 5-13.


July program: Every Tuesday and Thursday from July 9th - 25th. Sessions will be from 6pm-7:30pm. The overnight trip will start at 6pm on July 26th and finish at 10am on July 27th. 

August Program: Every Tuesday and Thursday from July 30th - August 15th. Sessions will be from 6pm-7:30pm. The overnight trip will start on August 16th at 6pm and finish on August 17th at 10am.

Where :

Every Tuesday and Thursday night session will be held at Prairie Winds Park in Calgary (223 Castleridge Blvd NE) on one of the picnic site (TBD). The overnight camping trip will be held at Camp Riveredge. (215 50 Avenue SW)


The cost for this 3-week program is $100 per child. There is financial aid available for those who need it. Please contact for more information.
